The sound of this drum really is incredible. The bass tone is powerful and punchy, with no need for extra kick ports to enhance the bass. It fills the room in a controlled and rounded way. You can achieve two main snare hits on the CaSela, one is full and has a great depth, the other gives you a nice pop on the high end. The playing surface is very high quality, sturdy, and allows you to achieve many other tones when using your foot to change the pitch. The materials used for the components are of very high quality. The side, top and bottom panles are made from high-grade birch and the rounded corners are made from, high-grade maple. The engineering that has gone into this product is second to none making it very easy for the user to put their cajon together in less than one hour.

A Cajon Gem!
Posted by Jackie on 12th Feb 2015
Words cannot describe the love that I have for this box.
I spent several months researching the best Cajon build and sound in the $200 - $300 price range. I explored top brands, read every review I could find, and sampled multiple boxes both in store and via youtube. Paul's videos, reviews, and friendly customer service were enough to encourage me to give the CaSela Satin Nut Cajon a chance, and I'm so very glad that I took the chance. I'm completely in love and can't wait to finish the day so that I can play it.
Paul was incredibly friendly and involved in helping me make the purchase decision, and the box was shipped within the hour of my purchase. To my surprise, I opened the package to find a pair of complimentary Cajon brushes thrown in along with a few stickers and other nice goodies.
I'm the type of person that hesitates to hang a picture frame on the wall, but I was easily able to build my Cajon. The instructions were a breeze and the build and quality of the materials were solid. I LOVED the customization options for the slap corners and followed the guidelines to adjust it to my taste. The removable snare and the design for adding or removing additional snares is nothing short of genius. This is german engineering at its finest, and it was a fun way to get to know my new instrument.
I highly recommend this Cajon for its versatility and punchy bass. Enjoy!!

Worth spending the extra money for a nicer cajon but also worth saving a little money putting it together yourself! Instructions were very clear and easy to understand!
I would highly recommend!

My husband put this together for me and he was amazed at its quality. The wood is perfectly cut and has this glaze like coating that's awesome. It's not shiny, it has a nice matte finish. The Cajon was easy to assemble, taking roughly 30 minutes because he went slow and read everything ahead. The sound of the Cajon is perfect, with a punchy bass. I'm happy with this product and I recommend this to anyone who wants one!!
Best sounding, professional grade snare cajon for the price range

After applying my research skills and percussion ear to MANY cajons on the market, this one stands out on top! Excited and happy to be playing my new Cajon! The bass is full and deep and the snare and slap corners are the proper tone and distinct.
Everything I wanted.

I've been looking for several months for a cajon. I ordered a Meinl about a year ago, but didn't like it. It's not like you can walk into a music store and check out a bunch of cajons. You might be lucky to find a store with more than one or two in stock, either Pearl or Meinl. So off to the internet..... Lots of youtube stuff out there. I finally pulled the trigger on a CaSela Satin Nut. It is fantastic. I'm extremely happy with it. I built it myself in about forty minutes. I also got the extra snare. I use a homemade subkick in back with a AKG mic wrapped in a towel lying in the bottom. Sounds awesome!

Thank you to Sela for inventing this cajon. It was easy to put togeather and the instructions along with the high quality parts made it almost a breeze. The sound of this cajon is big. I love the tones and kick it gives me. I played a gig where I didn't have a mic and this thing cut through great.
Customer service was awesome too.
A versatile Cajon

If your are thinking about building a CaSela go for it. The packing was study enough to get it to me in one piece. I took my time and completed it in 40 minutes including the battery charge. The included torx bit and my drill motor on slow proved to be the right combination to install screws with control. The Cajon is a work of art and looks professionally built. I got the box with two snares and wedged the corners as in the video on the Sela web site. I tried without snares, with one, and two snares and get solid sounds at the top of the box. This should save my back by improving posture (not leaning over to get bass). Brushes are a good choice for versatility and they add to the comfort. Soft mallets produce a pitch bend that you just won't believe but keep the sticks under control. The single snare can be adjusted up and down to get the correct sound, and adding a snare gives mega-snare. I get distinct sound zones from the corners and middle, top and middle. This cajon is responsive so you can bring the volume down for practice and turn it up for performance. Poor quality cajons usually only have a single volume that works.
This is a great choice and I will recommend it to all of my friends.

This is an awesome idea for an instrument. I have to say I am new to the cajon but I am so glad I got one of these. Sounds awesome!
