Kopf S-Series DeUno Snare Cajon
The DeUno Snare Cajon is a modern version of the traditional Cuban and Peruvian/Spanish Cajon drums. The construction of the Kopf Cajon starts with a solid poplar shell (resonating box). There are two tapas (playing surfaces) that are made from the finest quality baltic birch plywood available. One tapa has 4 non-adjustable snares and the other does not making this drum two cajones in one! Both Playing surfaces are completely glued rather than screwed to the frame. This gives the drum its amazing resonance and rich overtones. The whole cajon is finished with a thin clear satin finish to provide protection while preserving the wonderfull tone of the drum. It is craftsmanship at it's best! Everything is handcrafted, right here in the USA, right down to the custom seat on the top of the drum!

If you're looking for another "me too" cajon, lots of snare across the spectrum and little separation between bass, mids and slaps, this is not it. If you want great separation between a solid, open bass, distinct mids, and slaps, this is darn near perfect. I had a Kotz cajon, which had amazing bass and tones, but wanted a bit of snare for variety. The DeUno gives the best of both worlds. When you want the snare, it's there, you need to work a bit harder to bring it out, but it stays out of the way until called on. Or flip it around and play the traditional way, no snare at all. And made in the USA! With Paul's lessons, I hope to become worthy of this drum!
